Nathan Slack - Personal Development Plan Diary

I have been doing a binary work sheet preparing for our test in a week or two. I have done worksheets on hexadecimal, converting binary to numbers, adding and taking away pieces of binary and 32-bit numbers. I have done quite well on the worksheets getting high marks so I am quite confident in the test that we will be doing. I am glad I got a B in maths as it helps so much when working with binary. It will also come in handy when we are programming which I am looking forward to as I've always wanted to learn how to program as I've never even looked at programming before.

I have begun to do some Binary, learning basics and also advancing a little going on to Twos compliment and Floating numbers. I have also worked on 32-bit binary and adding, as well as taking away two bits of binary together. I have done a mock test on all binary subjects and I got full marks. I am enjoying learning binary because maths come into it most of the time, such as hexadecimal. Being good at maths has helped a lot with binary as if you struggle with maths it will show when you work with binary.  At this moment in time things have been a little slower than I had hoped. I had hoped that after 2 weeks we would have looked at programming to see if I liked it. However, it has taken over 10 weeks to take our First look at programming. As it has taken this long, I have had a look in my own time at different types of programming and learnt a little about them. After having a stressful day losing my bank card I researched different job opportunities and found a couple that interest me. e.g. I.T technician, Cyber security. These interest me because I like the thought of ethical hacking in the Cyber security. Before I do that though I will need to learn a lot of programming. I also liked the thought of the Architectural side of computing, designing buildings on the computer making 3D models of them. I have also had a look at universities and have seen some in Birmingham that have really caught my eye. This is because they have some of the best games development and IT facilities. I have looked into the Universities to see what i need personally to get into them. Some need certain A-Levels and some need a certain amount of A-Levels.
