Marking

A great deal of your entries have been related to activities in class, although this has also been directly linked to your PDP and working towards your chosen career.  You have also made entries regarding improving yourself from employment. P7 achieved

Week 10

I have began to watch a video on how the RISC's and CISC's allow communication and so then now I need to describe each step and give an illustration of them in my leaflet. I have also moved onto communication in technology. In this I have learned that you cant speed up electricity anymore. However, you can have a processor with more cores which means it will speed up the computer as it will be able to do more activities at the same time. Outside of college i have been buying my own parts and have built my own PC on my own. I did this as it gives me knowledge of all the parts needed to build a PC and also gives me the skills to fix things and replace things if something goes wrong. This field of work would correspond with that of an IT Technician.

Week 9

This week all I have been doing is catching up with work and making sure everything was finished. In Paul's lesson I have been doing RISC's and CISC's. I found an interactive diagram online that took me through all the stages and explained what was going on stage by stage. I then turned that information into a leaflet. In this leaflet I described what both RISC's and CISC's do and how they allow the processor and peripherals to communicate. I need to move on and give an illustration of how it works inside the computer. Also, it took a lot longer than I planned but we started doing a bit of programming. I wanted to test out some programming to see if I could possibly pursue it as a career and I really did enjoy it. This means that I could look for possible careers in this department as we made a game of pong using BBC Basic and it really was enjoyable.  This is because I had planned to look at some universities to see which had good IT facilities so I could have an ...

Week 8

This week I have been job searching. Although I already have a job I want a job that is more to do with IT and involves computers. This is because it will expand my knowledge on computers as I would have to work with them filling in documents and data. It would also mean getting flexible hours and getting better pay. This is crucial for me as I will be buying a car soon and will the need all the money I can get so that I can afford to run it.

Special registers - Week 7

I have been working on CPU special registers this week. I have needed to say what each part does such as the ALU, Incrementer, memory and instruction register etc. I have also needed to then describe what different types of memory there are.

Finishing touches - Week 6

This week I have put the finishing touches on all of my work, I have submitted it all to my teachers so they can view it and update my tracker to say that I've completed and passed all of my work. Thankfully I have now stayed on track with my work and have only fallen behind on a few pieces of work but I caught up quickly anyway.

On Track - Week 5

All I've been doing is making sure that all my work is up to date making last minute changes to them. I have also been trying to keep up with these blogs which I have fallen behind a bit with but I am now starting to be back on track with them. This week I have also been doing a little research into programming and looking at different programs you can use such as C ++.  So after a month I still haven't actually done any programming as I had hoped but I think that we are going to start some soon.  I had also hoped that after a month I would’ve started to make a game but after 10 weeks we still haven’t started getting anywhere near that stage yet. The only thing that has been on time is the first week. Outside of college i have been on the internet and on YouTube etc to watch videos on how to start making games and where to begin so that i can have some knowledge of it.
